Evaluation
Your works in progress need a trained editorial eye to evaluate their potential and to provide professional critique. My diverse teaching background includes creative writing, rhetoric and composition, literary analysis, and English as a Foreign Language. Whatever your writing needs, I can advise on formal and stylistic decisions--precise word choices, organizational frameworks, sound mechanics--everything necessary to communicate what you have to say. I will identify areas of strength and target areas of concern:




Manuscript Evaluation and Developmental Editing
  • Prose:   $50 for up to 15 pages + $2.50 per additional page
  • Poetry: $50 for up to 15 pages + $2.50 per additional page
  • Plays:      $50 for up to 15 pages + $2.50 per additional page

Line Editing       

  • $50 per hour

At some point during the writing process, either in the early stages or once you have a full draft, you'll want to have some critical feedback. Manuscript evaluation and developmental editing offers you a returned manuscript with strategic comments and markings throughout, complemented by a one-page overall assessment addressing various aspects of the project, such as:

  • line breaks in poetry
  • character development in fiction
  • stage awareness in drama
  • choices in life writing
  • plotting in screenwriting
  • data in non-fiction
  • critical tone in reviews

There are many considerations involved in thorough critique. When a project is more matured, you'll want meticulous line editing to correct and clarify your work. Your project will receive close attention, and you will receive detailed advice.
